ABOUT US
Meet Your Editor
I’ve been in the publishing business for almost 20 years, as an author and editor. My first book was published in 2006 and I’ve since published over 30 romance novels with several publishers including Random House. I have a copyediting certificate from Writer’s Digest, and I’ve edited everything from fiction and nonfiction to memoir, magazines and government reports. I know writing from an insider’s perspective, and I bring the empathy and understanding of a fellow writer to my editing practice. I have a master’s degree in American History, and was also a teacher for almost a decade. The skills I used in the classroom–such as research, sharing information, and giving positive, constructive feedback–are just some of my strengths. Let me help you improve your work and make it the best it can be before you share it with the world.

Our Services

Developmental Editing: $99-$299/hr
An in-depth critique of your manuscript with a focus on plot, characterization, dialogue, pacing, theme, consistency, voice and overall flow of the work. Some copyediting will be included, at editor's discretion. You will receive an annotated copy of the manuscript, as well as a separate email containing all my notes and suggestions, and you have an option to set up a call with me to discuss them or ask questions. Rate is determined by type of project. Initial consultation to see if editor and author "fit": $100/hr. Flat fee for picture books; minimum $199.

Copyediting: $.03-$.05/word
Editing the manuscript for mechanics including spelling, punctuation, grammar, style, syntax and consistency. You will receive a manuscript that has been edited with track changes so you can see any changes that were made and accept or reject them. Any out of the ordinary suggestions for substantial changes will be made in comments and not in the manuscript. You will also receive a tabulated list of comments and suggestions taken directly from track changes on the manuscript for easy reference. You have the option of setting up a call with me to discuss the edit or ask questions. Rate is determined by type of project.

Book Coaching: $99/hr
I will help you with the structure, story, plot, characterization, pacing, dialogue, work flow, and anything else you might need through a first draft or a revision. I will be brutally honest about what is and isn't working. I coach from a successful, working writer's perspective.
Proofreading: $.02-$.05/word
Reviewing manuscript for errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar and formatting. For formal style guides, proofreaders marks will be used. Rate is determined by type of project.
Nancy ... just reviewed my non-fiction book. I thought her comments were insightful, and I incorporated nearly every suggestion. I thought her fees were reasonable, as was the turnaround time of her review. I would recommend her, especially to first-time authors.
